About Jeanne

Jeanne Franklin specializes in the U.S. taxation of U.S. citizens living overseas, U.S. controlled foreign corporations and foreign source income rules affecting U.S. taxpayers, U.S. source income of non-residents, and foreign estates with U.S. property, including the often intricate U.S. tax compliance requirements associated with these kinds of matters. Jeanne is also a licensed Texas Certified Public Accountant.

Ms. Franklin, who joined Flott & Co. in November 2010, assists clients with estate tax and expatriation issues, and advises expatriates, foreign persons with United States source income, and United States citizens living overseas on tax planning and U.S. tax compliance.  Ms. Franklin began her career preparing tax returns and performing external audit reviews for Ernst & Young, LLP.  She joined Duke Energy Trading and Marketing Company in Houston, Texas Manager of Gas Accounting; and later moved to Consolidated Graphics, Inc. also of Houston as Manager of Business Compliance.  While attending Mississippi College School of Law, Ms. Franklin served as co-coordinator of Mississippi College School of Law-Mission First Legal Aid Office’s Tax Clinic, assisting lower income residents of Jackson, Mississippi with their federal and state income tax returns.

Ms. Franklin earned her Masters of Law (LL.M.) with a specialty in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 2009.  She graduated cum laude with her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Mississippi College School of Law in 2008.  Prior to earning her law degree, Ms. Franklin received her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and her Masters of Professional Accountancy (M.P.A.) from Louisiana Tech University.  She was admitted to practice in the State of Texas in 2008 and in the District of Columbia in 2011.  She is a member of the tax sections of the American and District of Columbia Bar Associations.
